Things In Jars by Jess Kidd
This novel is set in Victorian London and has the best dark atmosphere grimy London setting that you would want within a murder mystery novel. The main character Bernie is a female detective which is obviously a rarity in this time period. At the beginning of the book, she is recruited to help solve a kidnapping which results in her kind of combing the seedy underbelly of this city but also kind of forces to confront some secrets of her own past. This book has a good setting that will just completely transport you kind of spook you put the entire time on top of that this book deals with ghosts (literal and metaphorical) and dives deep into hobby of curiosity cabinets individuals ( in that time it was very popular and people were obsessed with collecting odd things from nature). A lot of twists and turns which going to keep you guessing.
