Anyone 18+ with a valid Fort Lee Library card can take classes. If you don’t have a library card, stop by the Circulation Desk or apply at fortleelibrary.org/about/get-a-library-card.
Due to high demand, we cannot guarantee placement if you have been in the program for two or more years. All other students will be enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis until the program is full.
The registration fee each semester is $30.00. Students must pay before classes start. Fees are non-refundable.
(The ESL department may waive the fee for financial hardship reasons.)
There is no registration fee for Summer classes.
Students can take one class each semester. If more tutors become available, we may offer additional classes.
Student placement is determined by both skill level and the availability on their registration form. All new students are required to register for a placement interview to ensure appropriate class assignment (applicable to Fall/Spring semesters only).
Classes are held Monday to Friday with 4-8 students per class.
- Morning classes – 9:45 am
- Afternoon classes 12:15 pm
- Evening classes- 6:30 pm (limited availability, NO Friday evening classes)
Beginner to Intermediate students are enrolled in Instructional classes lasting 1 hour 30 minutes, while High Intermediate to Advanced students participate in Conversation classes lasting 1 hour.
Class materials, including textbooks and worksheets, will be provided either prior to or after the initial class session.
Please note that due to high demand, specific class or tutor requests cannot be accommodated.
Most classes will take place in person. Zoom classes can be held depending on student interest and tutor availability.
